Louis Pasteur certainly didn’t need any more money or accolades by studying beer, but w...

Wednesday Beer News -- Solar Power, Settlements, and being Sober Curious?

So I made the mistake of going to a pub to meet up with my friends for the end of a hockey game and having a pint. I was snowplowing that time of year and woke up at 7pm, met my friends for 8:30pm, had a pint and left at 9pm. As I was leaving the parking lot, instant sirens and lights. I live in Ontario Canada where they have a “festive Ride program” (the police set up checkpoints to check for impaired driver or they patrol for them”. I ended up blowing 0.081. No joke. Legal limit is 0.080. I was about to pull into McDonald’s and get some breakfast and go to work in an hour for my shift. I was 25, 5’10” and about 140. No excuse I know better now. Draught beer hits hard and, the most you really can have is 1 drink and wait for a bit before driving. I get people are different but I’ve tested it out now because I’m afraid of even waking up the next day and blowing over. My lawyer brought up a good point tho….. If we as a society truly cared that much they would make it mandatory for breathalyzers or even for beginner drivers. But at the end of the day everyone wants to have a drink with dinner. Or pre breakfast in my case.
We make a Kolsch year round at Antigua Brewing Company in San Luis Obispo California. We love it here on the central coast!
What if the catholic church was in japan? Geisha would be the ones accused of witchcraft.
(2024): you are ahead of your time my friend. Likewise.
Best stout I ever tasted was and still is (Mackeson triple stout xxx)
No such thing as a bad IPA. Just some better than others.
Helium beer is great
Next time you're in London, find yourself a Fuller's pub and check out their 'ESB' - carefully. It's very easy to get shitfaced - guilty, many times - one of those wonderful ales that seems to have a greater effect than it's 5.6% ABV would suggest. Cheers!
Stout: A stronger porter.
Meh... the lecal Giant Eagle used to have the best selection of beer. Every style you can think of, no one's tastes were left out. Now, their selection is about like Wal-Mart. Meaning, if you like mass-produced beer and IPAs. Not exactly good if IPAs are down there with macro lagers on your least favorite styles.
When health is bad and your heart feels strange And your face is pale and wan When doctors say that you need a change A pint of plain is your only man!
It's probably only a matter of time before beer is considered unsustainable therefore eventually outlawed.
I can understand children but dogs? if i owned a bar and someone asked that i remove a dog from the bar i'd ask them to leave.
Bitter was Elizabeth II Command for Beer in the Presence of God with Me Natalie Helferty aged 7 in 1975 as God was Creating through Me as Queen of Canada. Elizabeth II was trying to ruin everything! So God created Bitters for England as she was claiming to be the representative of England and all things English. That is why England has horrible food and drink as Elizabeth II was being mean to Me and God but We did the Requests as Good As We Could given that her Evil Spirit would have made the food and drink otherwise and it really would be bad for the English with her in charge.
One of the plant leaves the British used to spice beer was Bible Leaf that has a somewhat earthy subtle mint flavor.
@1:50 there are not many German beers there 😂
I may fool around with other stouts, but my heart belongs to Guinness. She's the only one that can go all night. I love you, baby!
As a Lehigh grad, I will always refer to it as Beirut. Unfortunately, younger Lehigh folk now call it Beer Pong. I work with a similarly aged Bucknell grad, and when I described the game, he also instantly called it Beirut. We didn't have swatting rules, but if the ball was spinning around the rim of the cup, you could quick-react & blow it out before it ultimately sunk into the beer. My best friend went to Moravian (across the river from Lehigh), and you also had sink the water cup to win the match. There were many stumbling walks home from his fraternity...
I have no favourite, but I like to try a glass of stout when possible.
I’ve cleared out my breakroom due to IPA farts, had my manager fanning the breakroom with the door that’s how bad 🍺 👌🏻 💨 🤮
"melk" :P
Kolsch or Bust
When they say evil what is that Devil refreshing?
@1:36 ...bro, I don't think those are yeasts in that photo. 😂
I've always been curious about how these things work! I just bought one at the store so I decided to do research. Thank you for the research! Great images and videos of choice!
well seeing that I'm watching it 5 years after you made it, I'd say it holds up pretty well, other than the MeToo stuff, also, the amount of horny doesn't ever change through history, just the masking of it. This was a very enjoyable video that strengthens my argument, that sex sells.
My cousins and I played a marathon, evening-long beer pong tournament after my grandfather’s funeral. It felt downright Homeric, like the funeral games of Patroclus. A lot of beer pong matches in my life were pretty forgettable, but but I’ll remember that night until I die.
Video is totally lacking numbers. Waste of time.
If you value your liver and your life, I would strongly suggest that you don't even think about attempting Andre The Giant's record of beers drunk or the amount of alcohol he consumed in one night.
Nice one bro
Got my still running right now, sipping whiskey and beer. Love cocaine as well, i love drinking more than life
Nitro works great in stouts and porters, the thicker, less hoppy stuff.
I remember all the 80's beer commercials
Excellent explanation, thank you
Smell and touch*
Happy birthday canned beer ☝🏾
Funny fact, there was a time were it was illegal to brew a Kölsch outside Cologne. Another funmy fact, there's an old debate/fight between Cologne and Dusseldorf about which is better beer of Kölsch and Altbier local beers respectively. And the last one, it's pronounced Kelsh, just translate to German and playback the pronunciation. Great video! I learned a lot!
Music is way way way too loud. Why are you trying to cover up your own content with generic background music?
Ale is the traditional English beer. We've been drinking it for more than a millennium 😂
Just starting my IPA journey as I used to just drink lager 99% of the time. Today I'm drinkning some Camden IPA it's pretty good!
The big difference is that brewers in Germany know how to make real beer and have centuries of experience and tradition behind them. Craft brewers here in the U.S. only know how to make grapefruit juice that masquerades as beer.
My favorite style of Beer for every day drinking, For something special I like IIPA's and Imperial any style but prefer Stout. Sort of knew about the reason for the development of the IPA. I have tried at least 500 different IPA's and over 3000 different Beers, I do Beer reviews on YT. Thanks for the nitty gritty.
Guinness was advised (and still is) to be drank by pregnant women in England also! Great video.
Are you familiar with Buffalo based Gerhard Lang Brewery, Pubs and Butcher Shops 1890-1840? Gerhard is my Great Grandfather on my mother's side. Her mother was Grace Lang his daughter and my mom was Rose Marie Lang Dunlap. Gerhard introduced first trolleys in the city and sat on-the-board of directors Manufacturers and Trust Bank, todays M&T. Any vintagevphotos or films? Is their a Buffalo Historical Society?
i’ve done my own scientific research (i drank a lot of beer)
Where is Hetfordshire?

There’s a huge variety of flavours in English Bitters. Truly a beer for everyone.
